The piece began with a mixed media piece of layering doubtful thoughts when creating an artwork. Using acrylic paint, pencil, markers, and coloured pencils, I express doubt as something that can overwhelm one’s ideas and suppress creativity. Afterwards, I took a photo of the work and superimposed it on a brain MRI scan. In the final work, I compare doubt with a medical illness, experiencing the need for perfection and anxiety under a time crunch. At times, we wonder if the thoughts that we have are because of us or something wrong with our brain. Hence, I hoped to add this layer of doubt to my project.
